Support & FAQ

Find answers to common questions about Cholesterol Heart Tracker

Getting started

How do I start tracking my meals?

There are three easy ways to log meals:

  • Voice entry: Tap the microphone icon and describe your meal naturally. The AI will automatically identify each food item.
  • Barcode scanner: Tap the camera icon and scan packaged foods for instant nutrition data.
  • Search: Use the search bar to find foods from our 4.5 million item database.
Do I need to create an account?

No. Cholesterol Heart Tracker doesn't require an account. All your data stays on your device, so you can start using the app immediately after download without signing up.

How do I sync with Apple Health?

Go to Settings in the app and tap "Apple Health Integration". You'll be prompted to grant permissions for the data you want to sync. You can read workout data and write meal nutrition data to Apple Health.

Tracking features

How do I log cholesterol test results?

Navigate to the Cholesterol Tests tab and tap the "+" button. Enter your Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and Triglycerides values along with the test date. The app will automatically track trends and provide analysis.

Can I create custom recipes?

Yes. Go to the Recipes tab and tap "Create Recipe". Add ingredients, set the number of servings, and the app automatically calculates complete nutrition per serving. You can organise recipes by category and reuse them anytime.

How does voice meal entry work?

Simply describe what you ate in natural language — for example, "I had two eggs, whole wheat toast with butter, and a cup of coffee". The AI processes your description and automatically adds each identified food item with nutritional data.

What data does the app track from Apple Health?

The app can read:

  • Workouts and active energy burned
  • Steps and distance
  • Heart rate data
  • VO₂ max measurements
  • Sleep analysis

The app can write:

  • Meal nutrition data
  • Water intake

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

All your health data is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your app data may be included in your device backup (controlled by iOS settings).

Can I share recipes with family members?

Yes. You can share recipes, meals, and custom foods via AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or other sharing methods. The recipient can import them directly into their app. This is perfect for families managing heart health together.

What happens if I delete the app?

If you delete the app, all locally stored data (meals, tests, recipes) will be deleted from your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled and reinstall the app on the same device, your data may be restored. Data synced to Apple Health will remain in the Health app.

Troubleshooting

The barcode scanner isn't working. What should I do?

Make sure you've granted Camera permission to the app. Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and ensure Cholesterol Heart Tracker is enabled. If the barcode isn't found, try using the manual search instead.

Voice entry isn't recognising my foods correctly.

Try being more specific with your descriptions. Instead of "pasta", say "spaghetti with marinara sauce". You can also manually edit or adjust quantities after the AI processes your entry. Voice entry works best with iOS 18.1+ and Apple Intelligence enabled.

My Apple Health data isn't syncing. What's wrong?

Check these common issues:

  • Verify permissions in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Cholesterol Heart Tracker
  • Make sure both "Read" and "Write" permissions are enabled for the data types you want to sync
  • Try toggling the permissions off and back on
  • Restart the app after changing permissions
I can't find a specific food in the database.

If you can't find a food in our 4.5M+ database, you can create a custom food item with manual nutrition entry. Go to Foods > Custom Foods > Add Custom Food and enter the nutrition information from the package label.
