Meal Logging Streaks

A daily streak for logging meals — with automatic Streak Freezes and a Restore Challenge built in, so one missed day doesn't undo weeks of consistency.

Consistency, not perfection

Most streak features punish a single missed day by wiping out weeks of progress — which is exactly what makes people give up on tracking altogether. Heart Tracker's streak is built around a different idea: log at least one meal a day to keep it alive, and if life gets in the way, you get a real second chance before the counter resets to zero.

How the streak works

One meal a day keeps it alive

Log at least one meal on a calendar day and that day counts. The streak stays current through the end of today even if you haven't logged yet — it won't reset first thing in the morning before you've had breakfast.

3 Streak Freezes, banked from day one

Every user starts with 3 Streak Freezes already available — no need to earn the first ones. If you miss a day, a freeze is silently spent to cover it automatically. No action needed on your part.

Earn freezes back with a perfect week

Log every day for a full calendar week and you'll earn a new Streak Freeze, up to a maximum of 3 held at once. Miss several days in a row and each one spends a separate freeze, for as many days as your bank can cover.

Restore Challenge: a real second chance

If your freezes run out and a streak of 3 or more days breaks, Heart Tracker offers a Restore Challenge: log meals on 2 different calendar days within 48 hours, and your exact old streak number is restored. Available once per calendar month, so it's a genuine fallback rather than a loophole.

Can't be gamed by backdating

Only meals logged on the same calendar day they're dated for count toward your streak. Changing a meal's date after the fact, or backdating an entry, doesn't create or protect a streak — the streak number always reflects when you actually logged, not when you say you ate.

What happens when you miss a day

A day goes by with no meals logged

Heart Tracker checks for gaps automatically, walking backward from yesterday, whenever you open the Home dashboard or log a meal.

A Streak Freeze covers it, if you have one

If you have at least one Streak Freeze available, it's spent automatically to cover the missed day and your streak continues uninterrupted. You'll see a brief notice that a freeze was used.

No freeze left? You get a Restore Challenge

If your bank is empty and the streak that broke was 3 days or longer, you're offered a Restore Challenge instead: log meals on 2 separate calendar days within the next 48 hours to restore your exact previous streak count.

Log on 2 days to reclaim your streak

Completion is based on your actual logged meals during the challenge window — not a separate counter — so there's no way to fake it. Succeed, and your streak picks up right where it left off.
